Shelly Kerry created em's studio with a love for fun, whimsical jewelry while inspired by the youthful spirit of a child. Always intrigued by the cool eccentric pieces of her mother’s 1970s jewelry collection as well as her grandmothers’ big rings and necklaces, Shelly developed a very early interest in unique and beautiful adornment. She was always taught, “Don’t take life too seriously and love what the earth has given you.” Each piece is created with that in mind. Striking semi-precious stones, shells and other gifts from the earth are individually chosen for their unique characteristics and set into a one-of-a-kind design. Shelly named her design business after her amazing little niece Emma, who, while in her presence, opens her aunt‘s eyes to see the world through her youthful and spirited visions..

Shelly is also the writer of the Pretty Crafty Thing blog. After spending 6 years in NYC, Shelly decided to head west in 2005 for a new adventure and it was here that she began representing artists on-line. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Art History from Ohio State University and her Master’s of Arts in Film Studies from City College of New York in New York City. Time outside of her studies in New York was spent working at local galleries and working as the assistant to the Collector’s Circle Manager in the Development Department at the Museum of Arts in Design where she helped create trips for museum members and maintain upper level memberships. Her love for well-crafted art and her desire to have her own business helped to inspire the creation of her blog.
